Le Monde est Fou, imagined by the Cirque du Soleil, a great success!

Trois-Rivières, August 19, 2015 - This afternoon, the Corporation des Évènements de Trois-Rivières delivered a very positive report of Le Monde est Fou show by the Cirque du Soleil, presented at the Cogeco Amphitheatre last summer. The show, over the course of these twenty performances, conquered the hearts of the spectators.

Packed audience for most shows

This first show created and produced exclusively for the Cogeco Amphitheatre by 45 DEGREES, the special events company of Cirque du Soleil, attracted the crowds. Half of the shows were sold-out and the remaining ten performances were crowded approximately 3,000 people. It is therefore with pride that the Corporation des Évènements de Trois-Rivières announces that 64,000 visitors have been able to live the poetry of the show Le Monde est Fou, which represents a room occupancy of more than 96.5%.

Le Monde est Fou, from the song "Le géant Beaupré", was created in order to amaze both the Cirque du Soleil and music of Beau Dommage lovers. The wide range of emotions explored in the show and the great successes of the mythical Quebec’s band has awoken many memories and emotions among the spectators.

Provenance of the clients

The Cogeco Amphitheatre, through the presentation of this exclusive Cirque du Soleil show, was able to radiate outside Mauricie and convince tourists and excursionists to stay in Trois-Rivières. More than 66% of the spectators who bought a ticket for the show came from outside Mauricie. Our neighbours of Centre-du-Québec region were strongly attracted by this new show, inspired by the musical work of Beau Dommage. Just over 12% of tickets sold were sold in this region.

Among the most remote regions, there is a good interest in Montérégie (10.65%), Lanaudière (7.01%), Montréal (6.97%) and Québec (5.98%).

Many Americans and Ontarians were also charmed by this new artistic environment and came to visit us during the summer season. This means that the project is spreading throughout Quebec and has had a very positive impact on tourism this summer in Trois-Rivières.

The Cogeco Amphitheatre Experience

One of the objectives of the Cogeco Amphitheatre was to provide a global experience to visitors. Several alternatives were thought in order to bring the spectators to the Cogeco Amphitheatre site, according to their preferences and conditions, namely the pedestrian route, additional parking spaces, closed-circuit shuttles from the city centre to the Amphitheatre and bicycle taxis from Place Pierre Boucher. More than 2,500 passengers boarded Mr. Michel Letarte's bicycles. The courageous volunteers pedalled at each of the performances to raise money for Leucan. Over $8,100 will be donated to the association. The shuttles, orchestrated by the Société de Transports de Trois-Rivières, carried more than 3,700 passengers.

The Cogeco Amphitheatre experienced a powerful start with the presentation of the show Le Monde est Fou, conceived by Cirque du Soleil. In addition to having a positive impact on Trois-Rivières economy, it has fulfilled its primary role of positioning Trois-Rivières as a major player on the Quebec cultural scene.

The summer does not end there for the team of the Corporation des Évènements de Trois-Rivières. The Trois-Rivières en Blues Festival will take the stage of the Amphitheatre from August 21 to 23 with the shows of ZZ Top, Edgar Winter, Keb 'Mo and many others. It will then be the turn of more than 175 artists to perform on this enchanting site during the « 100 avenue des Draveurs - Grand musical » show, with Ginette Reno, Karim Ouellet and the OSTR.
