Trois-Rivières, March 13, 2017 - Cirque du Soleil will be setting up for a third summer in Trois-Rivières to present its new show of the Tribute Series: Stone. This show created and produced by 45 DEGREES, the special events and projects company of the Cirque du Soleil, will pay tribute to the lyricist, Luc Plamondon, emblematic figure of Quebec musical history.
After Le Monde est fou and Tout écartillé, Stone is the third creation in the Cirque du Soleil Tribute Series. This new chapter is part of a desire to push the boundaries, as in the previous two shows, and to propose a different vision of the repertoire of people honored through Cirque du Soleil's lens of creativity.
"For the third consecutive year, Cirque du Soleil has the great privilege to present an exclusive show in Trois-Rivières in the incredible setting of the amphitheatre. As the story of this Tribute Series is written, it is a growing pleasure for us and our creative teams to work on the biggest artists of the Quebec culture and music, and again this year, we will not hide our pleasure! Under the creative direction of Daniel Fortin, this 75-minute performance, created exclusively for the Cogeco Amphitheatre, will bring together 23 artists in a production by Jean-Guy Legault and a musical direction by Jean-Phi Goncalves.

CIRQUE DU SOLEIL, STONE – TRIBUTE TO PLAMONDON
At the centre of a baroque punk-rock-opera universe that looks like a disused Belmont park, an eccentric maestro with an Amadeus look falls for a voiceless automaton muse, Lolita, to whom he would like to give back her voice. Through the show, she will become the one that gives body and soul to his music, to the words of M. Plamondon.
The postmodern queen of this strange park populated by timeless and playful characters, this human soul, prisoner of her automaton body, will humanize herself through different musical paintings, nourished by multiple contemporary feminine voices, and culminate with the resonance of her own voice.

WHY STONE?
Stone is an iconic term from one of Plamondon's most famous songs (Le Monde est Stone).
A term representing a state of mind sailing between the real and the fanciful, which sticks very well with the punk-rock-baroque universe in which will be immersed the characters and spectators.
The musical direction
The punk-rock-baroque universe invites for a diversified musical signature, driven by the desire to combine different musical styles that will give a body and a particular musical soul to an extravagant world populated by eccentric automatons characters in search of humanity.
Just like Plamondon gave a voice to so many singers, it is through the voice of new muses that this tribune will take place. A timeless point of view on the work of the lyricist will be given where the music will be at every corner of this show, in its splendor as in its silences, so that poetry strikes without warning connoisseurs as much as future fans.
