Trois-Rivières, August 16, 2022 - The Corporation des Évènements de Trois-Rivières is pleased to announce that Lisa LeBlanc will be performing at the Cabaret de l'Amphithéâtre Cogeco on March 10, 2023. The Acadian singer will introduce fans to tracks from her latest album Chiac Disco, released last March, marking the artist's return to her roots.
About Lisa LeBlanc
Shortly after winning top honors at the Festival international de la chanson de Granby, Lisa LeBlanc released her first album in 2012, simply entitled Lisa LeBlanc. It received a phenomenal response; the craze for the New Brunswick artist's stripped-down and raw songs, for her roots-rock-country mix is undeniable. In the wake of its release, she won the Revelation of the Year award at the ADISQ gala, the Revelation of the Year award at the GAMIQ and the Revelation Music award from Radio-Canada. In 2014, she released Highways, Heartaches and Time Well Wasted, followed two years later by Why You Wanna Leave Runaway Queen? On both of these albums, she chose English, expanding her creative potential and opening up to new audiences.
Moving as easily from Dawson City to Caraquet as she did from Paris to Lafayette, Lisa and her musicians toured almost non-stop over the next few years. She takes a break in 2019 to let this whirlwind period of non-stop touring settle down, but still takes the opportunity to travel and write.
Part joke, part tribute, the EP It's Not a Game It's a Lifestyle, on which she impersonates Belinda, her bingokitsch alter ego, was released in June 2020. The musical project, which flirts with disco dance, kind of sets the table for what comes next. She reappears in 2022 with a new original album, Chiac Disco, co-produced with her accomplice Benoît Morier. A breath of life filled with resounding bursts, melodies thrown in the air in a purely liberating gesture, the record is a salute to the memory of Lee Hazlewood, to the chic disco years and to funk.
